Year in Review: Fourth Year (2017-2018)
What? So What?
This past year has been difficult for me. Academically I was entering into my final year as an undergraduate student, which was causing me some stress especially because I had to take my capstone. Outside of school, my family moved from the house I had lived in since I was 4 and I quit my job as a manger at Chick-fil-A and got a new job as a server at Outback Steakhouse. As a result, I dropped my minor in Spanish. Changing my job and removing my minor really helped to remove a great deal of the stress I was feeling.
This past year I took two honors courses. The first was The Culture of Books and Reading. Ever since I was a little girl I have always loved reading. This class gave me the opportunity to learn about literature and reading in other countries outside of the United States. The second class was The Roman Experience. Through this course I was able to travel to Italy. I love traveling, as I have mentioned many times before. Going to Europe for a second time was an opportunity I don’t think I would have been able to ever do if I did not attend UC. By taking both of these classes I was able to see cultures outside of my own.
Now What?
Outside of honors courses, I was able to take a psychology course that covered drugs and their cultural impact. This was probably the most interesting class I have ever taken while attending UC. Taking this class further emphasized how much I love my major and what I want to do after graduation. I have decided that I want to continue to follow psychology into my masters and hopefully doctorate degrees with a focus on clinical psychology. I hope to attend UC for the next part of my education.
